Dear god in himmel, I am a shallow person. I guess this is the first step towards growth or whatever but admitting must be the first step I think.
I love cheesy and not-very-good tv. I love it for lots of reason - many explained before. I love turning off the brain for an hour. I love just laughing at bad science, sociology, boys that write Mary Sues who would never give them the time of day.
But the depth...height...edges of the puddle of my shallowness all has to do with the men. I love Torc… Continue

OK, so things I learned:
1. Ken and Widget are planning to dip a small child in glitter for "monkey magic." In many states, this would get them arrested. In my own sphere of influence, this means I'm keeping them away from my child. :)
2. Boxer vs. Brief magic --- Ken's idea of boxer brief magic stuns Widge.
(and my perverted head goes to very very bad places...*repeats to self* Will not write stories like that about friends...will not write...DAMMIT! But then they talked about "Nights for Lo… Continue
So, two years ago I started an outdoor installation projects I called the Word of the Week and Please Leave a Message. I created large letters (about 12 inches high) out of astrobright ® Fuschia paper that was laminated. I would then find obscure and less known words and place them in front of Spazhouse. I would Then shoot the word and then upload it on various sites with its definition. I had several articles printed and a section for an artshow displaying the compiled words.
The problems I ha… Continue

and on, and on, and well you get the point.
Life as of late has been a time of changes and stranges. First, I graduated from College in Mid-May. Second, a few days before I graduated I got a job teaching English in Cobb County. And Finally, the big mac daddy of them all: I got engaged! Yes, the man that sleeps on my couch finally popped the big question. Talk about strange.
With that I figured it wouldn't hurt to announce it here on Gabfest to share in the world that is love.
Peace and Chicke… Continue
So, I listened to the podcast and these are my comments:
- Ken is a very cynical bastard who "gets it comped" (instead of paying for it) and is not looking forward to anything.
NOTE: Ken, you better be looking forward to seeing me! You evil bastard.
- Scott has a titanium spork. He has plans to use it. Just boggle at that. G'won. Take some boggling time.
- My name was brought up...and Tuffley? Be afraid, be very afraid.
And Doc? I have no problem with cheap Canadians. In fact, I am wa… Continue

I love Starbucks. Yes, they are a behemoth and a merchandising whore. Yes, they are the evil corporate empire that many hate. Yeah, yeah, whatever.
I love them.
I love them in a very big and almost unhealthy way. I'm already teaching my son to love them.
My favorite drink during winter is: venti, half-pumps mochaccino with light whip, extra shot. My favorite drink during summer is: grande, mocha lite frappucchino, light whip, add a shot.
The extra shot in the frappucchino confuses them, the… Continue
For some time now, I've been thinking to myself, "Self, you should really stop playing video games and do the laundry before you have to show up to work in your wedding dress." But then I completely reject such a silly idea! Hah Hah! Why would I do something so frivolous as laundry when I could focus on becoming a minor internet celebrity through writing REVIEWS of some of the (many) games I play?
Also, that way my friends and family will stop hiding behind the couch when I come over because th… Continue

Human Kindness it does exist.
So, I stopped by my neighborhood Gourmet to go shop to pick up some of
Sheff’s awesome crabcakes for dinner. Well was a bit busy and I overheard
the owner tell an elderly couple that they were sold out. Needless to say
they left without buying anything. The fellow in front of me asked if it
were true that there was indeed no crab cakes and that he placed an order
earlier for six of them
“Oh we have those for you” said the owner. She then claimed that she felt
bad… Continue

Above is the link to a nice article I found while reading the NY Times this afternoon while sitting out side in lovely 70 degree weather. One can't waste the sun if it warm and pleasant outside and you have all day to read newspapers and nothing else is pressing.

So, I was listening to Skepticality podcast while out food shopping this evening and heard something cool. Derek announced that Randi (The Amazing Randi) will be at DC this year. WOW. I thought it was great when Dr. Michael Schermer was there last your. This will be so cool. Cool I say.
This news had improved my day greatly.

At 5:30 on Friday morning, modern rock / ‘alternative’ minded 99x vacated its 99.7 frequency to top 40 sister station Q100.
The last song played by 99x was inexplicably Green Day’s “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)”, while far better final song choices (Elvis Costello’s “Radio, Radio”, REM’s “Radio Song”, and The Smiths’
“Panic”) were aired by the remaining DJs to end their shifts.
Following the Green Day song, however, a technical gaffe caused both 99.7 and 100.5 frequencies to air a…
Teacher: Ben, you got a six out of ten. That's not great.
Ben: Mr. L*, I'm gonna tell you my life motto. It is, 'If you push me over the edge, I will grab you by the neck and pull you down with me... And then push you into Hell.'

So, I have not been posting as much since work takes away some vital surfing time. Also, I am still working on OS 9 in the Mac world. This means that Explorer is almost a waste of time to use since so many sites are not supporting that browser. We do have several systems on OS X but, they are not my normal work stations. So, I did a hunt for an old web browser and found an Mozilla bowser that works fair enough as long as I save my work in case my machine freezes.
Always save your work.

I spent Black Friday at the movies. It was safer inside than out. There was already one accident outside the mall area due to early crazed shoppers. No one was hurt apparently.
Frank Darabont really came through on his stake of this scary novella. The movie was not disappointing. A couple of things minor though were a bit odd. Such as, no one in Maine has a gun except for the new pretty resident in town and the only one who could shoot is Toby Jones' (from the other Capote movie) character Olli… Continue

I know that putting a football blog on this site is a bit strange but bear with me.
As you know, my Dad died in early September. To say my dad was the biggest Gamecock fan ever is not enough. Dad loved the Gamecocks like Dindrane loves cute kittens. Like ScottC loves cute babies (no, he doesn't eat them!). Like Roz loves goggles. Like Tuffley and RobC love good British bands. Like Rob the Zombie loves Dr. Who. Like Widge loves Chuthulu...
At certain points over recent years, I may have referred to one or both of you as being "the whiniest bitches on the internet". However, I've come to realize I might have been far too hasty in making that proclamation.
No, I'm not apologizing. Many of are you still whiny bitches. But you're just not the whiniest bitches on the Internet. The new drama queens have moved in. And man, Radiohead fans are anal- aren't they?… Continue
First and foremost, Dindrane, if you have never seen this movie, I will cry. This is the most special bestest movie ever! It's full of all those terrible cliches and it's beautiful! You MUST go watch. We can IM it while you watch, if you want. :)
The Wild Women of Wongo is up as a contest on NeedCoffee.com. If you have never seen this movie, well, as you see above, I shall cry but also I must tell you to watch it. It's TERRIBLE! Beautifully, beautifully terrible. It also hol… Continue

Now, if you have ever read my LJ, you know I have an unholy love of the show Stargate: Atlantis. I love this show with an unholy glee. Yes, yes, it is partially because of the pretty (ie - Joe Flannigan) and the snarky (ie - David Hewlett). However, that is only the top-most layer of my shallow love of this show. Please, do not try to understand the show. Do not ask that it make sense. It is cheesier than cheese curds before they are made into extra-sharp Wisconsin cheddar. This is c…
Well hello there! We have quite an "interesting" week, with the three way battle featuring new product by Kanye West, 50 Cent, and Kenny Chesney. Of the three, the Chesney entry had the most promise-but none of them gave a knock out punch. That's why you need this week's album......Bla…Continue

I have been on an Eisenhower kick in the last couple of months. I watch a film about the Military Industrial Complex and Eisenhower's warning to the the American sheep of the United States in regards to its preliferation. I believed that he was just a War Time Hero made president all these years.
Now I read in an op ed piece by David Nichols that Eisenhower (I was never keen in High School to learn anything about him… Continue

I finally saw this movie this weekend. I thought I had seen it when I was younger but alas I some how missed this "gem" of a movie. The only reason I watched this movie is because this is one of Widgett's favorite movie, so I am told. I thought any movie that Widgett likes, I must like as well. But I was soo wrong. Now before you all come at me with torches, let me explain. It was a funny movie and I love little people coming out of closets to beat up a child. That's just good humor. I did enjoy… Continue

Well I started my adventure at 10pm Thursday. This year I decided to travel by the big Grey Dog. An hour flight now costs 248. 00 while a trip to NYC is about 250.00 Go figure and I wanted to bring my Dahon® Folding bike I call Foldy. Amtrak would take about 2 days to get to Atlanta via Washington DC. So I thought of doing the Kerouac thing and venture by bus. By the way I don't own, or ever have owned a car. I do own two bikes though.
So I had dinner with my neighbors and then took a cab to Gr… Continue

With a heady mix of Brit Pop, Reggae, and atmospheric noise- Damon Albarn is at it again. The Gorillaz mastermind has teamed up Simon Tong (the Verve), Tony Allen (Fela Kuti), and Paul Simonon (The Clash) to form The Good, The Bad and The Queen. oh, AND Danger Mouse produced the album. …
I'll be all detailed with the props in a bit, but I just wanted to throw out a quick note to thank everyone for coming out to Dragon Con, supporting all the panels, and putting up with our occasional (frequent, and/or persistent) bouts of incoherence. Somehow you make sense of all of it-which, in itself is quite a frightening concept.
Thanks to Sideshow Collectibles for once again providing the swag. Also wanna thank…
